5 Days Samburu / Great Rift Valley Lakes Camping Safari

Samburu National Reserve and The Great Rift valley Lakes which consists of Lake nakuru, Lake Naivasha & Lake Bogoria, are two of the most famous places for safaris in kenya. Samburu National Reserve is the most popular park in northern Kenya, it;s dominant feature is the Ewaso Ngiro River, which slices through the otherwise bone-dry country. The river acts as a magnet for thirsty animals, and large numbers of elephants, Grevy’s zebras, giraffes and lions gather along the riverbanks.

The Great Rift Valley lakes are known for their vast bird species in Lake Nakuru, hippos in Lake Naivasha and the hot springs in Lake Bogoria.

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through the agricultural farmlands on the slopes of Mt. Kenya to arrive at the semi-arid and open savannah plains of Samburu Game Reserve in time for lunch. Proceed for an afternoon game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at a permanent campsite.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve

Full day of game viewing in the park famous as the place for the Samburu semi-nomadic tribesmen, the reticulated giraffe, the Grevy’s zebra gerenuk, beisa oryx and a host of the big game including elephant and lion. Meals and overnight at the permanent camp.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Lake Baringo

Leave Samburu early in the morning to make a scenic drive to the west acroha the Lerochi Plateau with lunch enroute and later descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley and arrive at Lake Baringo in the afternoon . This a fresh water lake which supports a great variety of birds as well as Hippo and crocodile. Dinner and overnight at a camp.

Day 4: Lake Bogoria – Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart early in the morning and head south via Lake Bogoria which is a shallow soda lake with a beautiful scenery and home of flamingoes and arrive at the hot springs and the geysers all which contribute to the beauty of the lake. After lunch proceed to Lake Nakuru in the south. Dinner and overnight at a camp at the Park.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Nairobi

Leave for an early morning drive along the beautiful lake Nakuru and get a chance to spot some of the wildlife and view the flamingos as they fly around the lake for the last time. Return to the tented camp for breakfast and then depart for Nairobi.
