This itinerary is short and sweet and comprises of 4 days and 3 nights in the country. The focus of this trip is a visit to Volcanoes National Park and the endangered mountain gorillas. Logistically this itinerary requires a morning or early afternoon arrival flight into Rwanda. This itinerary includes 2 treks to see the mountain gorillas, 1 trek can be substituted for a visit to the rare golden monkeys if desired.
Day 1: Nairobi – Kanombe
Upon arrival at Kanombe Airport, you are met and driven to your hotel. This 2 Hr drive takes you through the beautifully terraced hilly countryside of Rwanda to Ruhengeri the base of gorilla trekking. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel.
Day 2: Kanombe – Kiningi
Early in the morning, drive to Kiningi for Gorilla tracking. Track 2-3 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour. Descend to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon visit Gisenyi on the Lake Kivu. Return to Gorilla nest for overight (This tour of Lake Kivu is only possible if guests finish tracking on time).
Day 3: Kiningi
After breakfast, trek up the mountain for another memorable experience with the gorillas. Return to the base hotel for lunch. In the afternoon visit lakes Burela and Ruhondo. Overnight Gorilla Nest Hotel (This tour of Lakes is only possible if guests finish tracking on time).
Day 4: Kiningi – Kigali
After breakfast, drive to Kigali. Have a city tour followed by lunch. Afternoon transfer to the airport for home flight.
